In February 2013 Bethany was awarded a BBC Performing Arts Fund Fellowship in connection with the National Centre for Early Music. The fellowship has allowed Bethany to further her career through guidance and performance opportunities from the NCEM.
The performances throughout the year have allowed Bethany to show a wide range of styles and genres from Caccini and Bach cantatas, Handel opera arias through to German Lieder. A real highlight was performing alongside Niels Tilma and Yorkshire Baroque Soloists in York Early Music Christmas Festival. Niels and Bethany have been performing in Denmark together for a number of years and with the help of the Fellowship have been able to bring one of their concert programmes to England.
Another aspect of the Fellowship has been developing Directing and Educational work. Bethany conducted the Minster Minstrels’ Vocal Ensemble in December 2013 and was a vocal coach for the Musical Play in a Week in August 2013, both run by the NCEM. Through the year Bethany has been writing an online blog for Early Music Today. To read these click here
